The Pasadena Education Network (PEN) is a group of more than 2,000 parents who support and send our children to the public schools in Pasadena, Altadena, and Sierra Madre.  PEN understands that the success of our public schools hinges on the collective engagement of our families and our community.  We invite you to join us in our efforts to increase family and parent engagement, which improves our schools for all students in the Pasadena Unified School District.

At a time when PUSD is facing big decisions around hiring a new superintendent and facilities improvements, the role of PEN has never been more critical. Our results speak for themselves – Parents rely on PEN to support them in four specific ways: 

  • Keeping Parents Informed: We provide timely updates on PUSD decisions and events that impact schools and families, and seek input on issues that matter most to families

  • Guiding School Choices: PEN equips parents with information to find the right public schools for your family via our programs, website, fact sheets, and parent connections

  • Expanding the Community: We introduce families to PUSD who might not have considered it otherwise, strengthening our schools and fostering inclusivity

  • Amplifying Parent Voices: PEN empowers parents to have a voice in district decision-making because when parents are involved, the better it is for all children

 In the past year, PEN connected parents through our parent programs, school tours, and networking opportunities. We played a crucial role in improving the Open Enrollment school choice process, and addressed issues through our participation on PUSD’s Strategic Planning sub-committees, the LCAP-Parent Advisory Council, PUSD’s Parent Leaders Network, and more.
